Building Stronger Marriages // Marriage Tips // Wedding Photographers Huntsville Alabama

As wedding photographers, Valentine’s Day is a fun holiday for us. We get to celebrate love, marriage, and the joy that goes along with it all year long.

Marriage is both beautiful and fragile. It’s one of the best – and one of the hardest – things you’ll be working on your entire life.

For this year’s Valentine’s Day Mocha, I wanted to share a couple of snippets from this past year’s J&A Mini Marriage Workshop for our couples. Whether you’ve been married 60 years or still planning your wedding, we hope that you will always take the time to be intentional about building your marriage!

“Marriages, like a garden, take time to grow. But the harvest is rich unto those who patiently and tenderly care for the ground.”

~Darlene Schacht

Marriage becomes even more beautiful as it matures, making your relationship deeper and more meaningful. But…only if you patiently and carefully make it that way.

Marriage doesn’t naturally grow deeper and more beautiful. It takes patience, effort, forgiveness, kindness, commitment, unconditional love, and many other things that require sacrifice from both sides.

But take courage! The rewards are rich.

You have the opportunity to grow your marriage. How are you going to use it?

Don’t take a single day for granted! It means rooting your love in the things that can never be compromised, like faithfulness, trust, and selfless serving. It also means building it up by the daily choices you make. Choices like having intentional conversations that grow your marriage beyond the everyday busy-ness, learning how to deal with conflict, and finding mentors who have weathered the thick and thin of marriage.

“If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don’t expose it to the elements. You don’t make it common or ordinary. If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it until it gleams like new. It becomes special because you have made it so, and it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by.”

~ F. Burton Howard

Marriage is worth fighting for! What can you do this Valentine’s Day to set the stage for your best year of marriage yet? {Need ideas of where to start? Check out our What If This Day Mocha on the blog.}

*hugs*
