Meet Our J&A Bride: Anne!

Meet the Family!

Nov 8, 2016

Jake and Anne. These two have become such a joyful part of our lives since we first met them two years ago! From our first coffee date and engagement session to their wedding (see their wedding here!) and 4 season forever sessions, these two bring so much sparkle. We can’t imagine our J&A Family without them and their puppy dogs.

*How did you meet?  We met on our orientation day at Boeing.  We started working in the same building and then a couple weeks later, we got moved so we shared an office.

*Where did you go on your first date? Hiking on Monte Sano (way back when we only had 1 dog – Roxy).

*When did you first know you wanted to marry him?  I have absolutely no idea :P.

*How did he propose?  He never did the formal proposal thing.  We sat down and talked about it and then went ring shopping together.

*What personal or meaningful element did you incorporate into your wedding?  How do I pick just one? We are huge nerds so the entire wedding was pretty much planned around that: the date aligned with a meteor shower, custom Dr. Who shoes, Star Wars/Harry Potter bouquet, hand-made nerdy boutonnieres, LEGO heart-building…. so many more….. My parents made 60 decorated wine bottles for decorations – each different.  The one on the head table was a bottle of Jack Daniels Single Barrel and it was the bottle that Jake gave to Dad when he asked for Dad’s blessing.

*What kind of things do you like to do together?  We like to hike with our dogs Roxy, Finn, and Floyd.  We also like horseback riding, doing things around the house (planting new flower beds, small carpentry projects), and the occasional weekend spent only watching Netflix and eating pizza :).

*What is your favorite cake flavor?  I like Funfeti – sprinkles are the best!! Jake likes chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

*Where would you go on your dream vacation and what would you do?  I think we pretty much covered that with a 3.5 week honeymoon to New Zealand.  But, up next on the list is Japan in Fall 2017.

*Do you have any advice for brides still planning their weddingListen to what your parents tell you, but not everything they tell you.  Having a caterer instead of trying to pick up all the food on our own was a great idea (especially since they chipped in with the budget!); some of their other ideas were not as good.  Make them feel included, but its your day so tell them no, too.

Since their wedding, we’ve loved having tons of mini Forever Sessions with these two! Anne had a great plan of having a session done during each season of their first year together. (Check out their Fall Forever Session!) They also had some images from their Christmas Forever Session featured on The Daily Dog Tag – and Roxy, Finn, and Floyd looked adorable in their Christmas outfits!

*hugs*

Amber

P.S. When Joel gave Jake and Anne a sneak peek of one of their fabulous engagement pictures, the dogs went a little crazy seeing themselves on the screen! One of our favorite engagement stories ever! :)
