Destination: Kaua’i, Hawaii

J&A Wanderlust

Nov 10, 2017

It’s here! The third and final island of our Hawaii adventure! Kaua’i was also our very favorite island of the three. It’s so relaxed, lush, and feels like one big, beautiful garden! You know how happy that makes us! :)

If you’re new to the party, you can catch up on our Maui and O’ahu adventures here!

Once we landed in Kaua’i, we only had a few hours of exploring. Joel’s work conference commandeered most of our days, but we squeezed in two evenings of experiencing the island!

We were greeted with stunning scenery as soon as we hopped in the car and took off down the road. I still can’t get over how beautiful this island is!

Our first stop was Moloa’a Bay. Does anybody recognize Gilligan’s Island?! This was the beach where they filmed the first several episodes of the TV show Gilligan’s Island! (And a shout out to our Shaka Guide App tour for giving us the inside scoop on fun places like this!)

Soooo fun. Definitely a highlight! Plus, it was a really beautiful beach! I could have happily set up camp on this beach and spent the rest of my trip here. And that’s only a very slight exaggeration. ;)

My tent would go riiight about here….

More driving, more amazing views…

And then…coffee!!! We were super excited to find a great coffee shop on the island! Java Kai in Kapaa definitely delivered. It was the best coffee we found in Hawaii outside of downtown Honolulu. Being in the middle of a cute little town was a bonus!

We had a dinner date planned with a co-worker of Joel’s, but we had just enough time to squeeze in a {very fast paced} hike up a rain-forested mountain.

But it was soooo worth it to get views like these. This whole experience was one I’ll never forget! We really wanted to make it to Napali Coast before we left, and we did!!

Joel really loved this view here!

Some beach exploring and cave wandering on our way back to dinner, of course!

Ahhhh. Is this not amazing??

The next couple days were pretty much work for both of us! Joel had meetings all day, and I had a nice long date with my laptop. But don’t feel too sorry for me. This was my office…

Sometimes I moved down to pool level if I wanted a change of scenery. I know, tough, right?

We did take a little time to enjoy this ah-mazing resort we were at! I could only stare at this view but for so many hours before I swam a few laps around the pool. Not a bad place for a conference, I dare say…

We also didn’t mind our own private resort beach…

We spent one last late afternoon exploring the north side of the island. These pictures just don’t do it justice. Everything was so breath-taking!

This place is Waimea Canyon, also known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”. Epic. Totally epic.

One of the experiences we’ll never forget! We made it there just as the sun was setting. Watching the light dancing across the cliffs – from blue to yellow to gold – was magical. Pu’u o Kila Lookout at sunset was one of our favorite memories from the entire trip.

Kaua'i Hawaii

The next morning was another work day, followed by the long flight home! We launched into a crazy busy October the day we got home {you can see a Snapshot of the fun on this post here!}, and we’re thankful for these priceless memories of our Hawaiian Adventure!

Have you been to Hawaii? We’d love to hear about some of your favorite spots! Tell us about it in the comments below!

*hugs*

P.S. Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island are next in our Wanderlust series! Stay tuned! :)
