48 Hours of Reconnection {Building Marriage}

A Mocha For Your Tuesday

Apr 25, 2017

If you’ve been following us for any amount of time, you’ve probably discovered that Joel and I love traveling almost as much as we love our vanilla lattes. We’re the kind of people who don’t really know how to relax on a “vacation”. We go from sunrise to sunset – excited to see and experience as much as possible. And scout out all the coffee shops, of course!

But sort of by accident, we discovered the power of a quiet weekend with nothing to focus on but each other.

One of our J&A Bride’s super sweet parents gifted us with a weekend in their cabin up in the mountains. *swoon!* We packed our bags and spent the weekend in a tiny little town with not much to do.

And it was wonderful.

We put our phones and laptops away and just spent time together with no dinging email notifications, no Facebook, and none of the hundred other things that often take up our attention.

Just 48 hours, but the time was so valuable. It was intentional time spent reconnecting with each other and with our vision for our lives.

It can be a little tough with kids, but we encourage every married couple to take a little time – even if it’s just 24 hours – to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with each other. It has to be intentional time! It’s easy to get re-distracted with the internet or even packing your schedule full of fun activities for your little getaway.

This week, we challenge you to gift your marriage by scheduling a time for 48 hours of intentional reconnection. The rest of life can wait a little bit. It will be worth it. :)

*hugs*

Amber
