It’s always a good Saturday when we’re whisking around the Garden in a golf cart, heading off to yet another stunning portrait location. There are a lot of things I love about weddings at Huntsville Botanical Garden. I think the golf cart rides and nature-filled portrait locations are in the top ten! Ashley and Cody were totally on board with chilling on the golf cart, and we have some super fun memories with them from this past weekend!

Ashley and Cody celebrated their wedding with a heartfelt, natural vibe that was perfect for them. After a dreamy sunset treehouse engagement session (you don’t want to miss this one!) and learning about their love for natural adventure and the outdoors, I noticed how many elements of their day fit their personalities so well. Besides being perfect models for the portraits, Ashley and Cody are so fun to be around. It’s easy to see why they’re so loved!

I especially love how their families came together and created so many pieces of the wedding day for them. Moms, aunts, grandmas, and cousins arranged, decorated, baked, and help put out a beautiful display of decorations and food. We come from strong extended family ties ourselves, and it brought back some sweet memories of our family jumping in and making our wedding special by sharing their talents.

A Few of My Favorite Wedding Details

Which makes it to my list of favorite wedding details – I loved how involved Cody and Ashley’s families were! My top favorite was Cody’s grandma (with a little help from the aunts!) baking and decorating the wedding cakes. My grandma made the wedding cake of all her grandkids, and it’s one of my sweetest wedding day memories. I know how much work and love goes into that. It’s so special. Ashley’s handkerchief was a gift from her Grandfather before he passed away, who bought it for her twenty years ago in Florence, Italy. I mean, what a treasure!

Ashley was so beautiful! I really loved the bow adorning the train of her dress. It became even more perfect when her dress bustled for the reception. I’m a fan of a good bow, and this was a solid one. Her bouquet had all the perfect fall colors. Which, by the way, were handcrafted one by one in a jaw-dropping creative effort. If you’ve been around for awhile, you know I really love some color!

And my favorite detail of all – the dried flower petal ceremony exit. We’ve done it once or twice before, but it’s been awhile and I almost forgot how much I love it. The dried flower petals were 100% the perfect touch for a natural, colorful Garden wedding. My heart sparkled when Joel handed me a box of the dried petals while I was doing my detail shots.
