This is a wedding that I’ve been so excited to share with you! Pat has been a wonderful part of the north Alabama wedding industry for many years, and we’re thrilled to celebrate her own wedding day on the blog today!
For those of you who don’t know Pat, she’s the fabulous owner of Modern Brides in Huntsville, as well as the amazing talent behind the annual Celebrations Bridal Show. She’s helped thousands of girls find the perfect dress – whether it’s a wedding, the prom, or a mother of the bride looking for a stylish outfit. They also have the whole kit and caboodle of stellar stuff for the guys!
So when Pat asked if we would photograph her intimate family wedding, the answer was definitely “yes!” :)
Pat and Gary’s story goes back 48 years. They dated each other in the 1970s (and have this awesome picture to prove it!!) But life sometimes takes some twists and turns, and they lost touch for many years.
Two years ago, they reconnected and never looked back. And now, 2 years to the day of their renewed friendship, Pat and Gary said their vows in a fairytale floral-filled intimate family ceremony at the Ledges.
The spring rains brought drifts of magical fog onto the mountain ledge. As the clouds created in intimate backdrop outside, the inside was bursting with glittering beauty. Awe-inspiring floral arrangements decorated the room, which was woven with gold and teal place settings and towering golden candlesticks. A custom made cake rested in the corner, and a wedding feast fit for royalty wafted its smells into a very happy scene.
But the best part? The love that absolutely filled that room to the brim. Pat and Gary’s joy was bubbling, and none of us could help grinning as we watched the two of them practically floating around the room.
Pat’s 5 granddaughters stood as her maids of honor, and Pat wanted to do something really special for her 5 granddaughters on her wedding day – something that would always remind them how much they are loved and cherished. <3
She took some of her own diamond jewelry and had custom matching necklaces made for each of them – necklaces that matched her own. Each sweet granddaughter had a handwritten letter and a bag with her necklace presented before they walked down the aisle as Pat’s maids of honor.
“When you put this on, I hope you’ll remember how much you’re loved. I know I’ll be thinking of you every time I wear mine.”
The most beautiful part of all was watching Pat lovingly put a necklace around each of her granddaughters’ neck. The smiles, the tears, and the absolute love that shone out of their eyes was more than priceless.
This is one of those wedding moments that I’ll never, ever forget. I love my own grandmas so much, and the love that Pat put into these gifts made my heart squeeze a happy squeeze.
I’m so thankful that God gave us grandmas (and granddaughters!) to love.
From the first smiles to the last goodbyes, this day was a fairytale and everything Pat and Gary deserved.
Pat and Gary, we are beyond thrilled for you guys! You are such a joy and a treasure. Thank you for letting us be a part of this fairytale!
*hugs*
