“Bring your words to life.”

I hear you over there. “What are you talking about, Amber?” Is this some kind of call to poetry?

What I really mean is living out loud. Living out the words you speak.

How often do we claim something with our words, only to contradict ourselves with action?

We say one thing, yet do another.

We say we trust our spouse, but sign in and read their Facebook messages. Just in case, you know. We say we respect them, yet we have no problem venting to our friends about the latest thoughtless thing we had to bear.

When we promise to love our spouse for better for worse, etc, etc, we say we mean it – but when worse comes, we decide it wasn’t what we signed up for.

The little things you don’t even notice.

More than the big moments are the little, in-between moments. The way you talk to each other throughout the day, the priority you put on paying attention. Whether or not you answer the phone when they call, or if you forget to thank them for going out of their way to serve you.

When you say “I respect you and your decision”, do you act like you really mean it? If you say “I can’t imagine my life without you”, do you really act like a team player?

All these little tiny things make up your real-life marriage.

When you say, “I love you”, how can you bring those words to life? This week I want to challenge you to pay attention to the words you speak. Ask yourself if you’re bringing those words to life by matching your actions to the words.

The actions are always so much harder than the words, but they’re part of building a stronger marriage.

We’re cheering you on!

*hugs*

Amber
