As I sat down to write this post, looking through the images of this past year really brought me back to the heart of what we do.
It’s more than taking pretty pictures and booking weddings. It’s building relationships. It’s squealing when we run into a J&A Couple because we can’t wait to hug their necks. It’s about not only capturing amazing memories with our cameras, but also creating amazing memories as we go. Leaving their lives richer and more beautiful because we poured our hearts into serving them.
And that, my friends, is why you should do what you do. Be a servant, and you will never lack an opportunity to serve.
And so, I bring you Our Favorite Stories of 2015, Part 2. (Did you miss Our Favorite Stories, Part 1? Check it out here!)
As photographers, we get to tell a story. Our favorite memories are a piece of these stories, stories that need to be told.
It’s the story of the first time he sees his baby girl on her wedding day, the moment when it really hits him that this is it. The day he takes the most important walk with her by his side. The day he gives her away. The story of twenty four years of loving that beautiful face, of watching her fall in love.
It’s the story of a groom. Her groom. It’s the story of long years waiting. Waiting for the right time, the right moment when he could make her his own. The story of her face when she sees the look of love and adoration in his eyes.
It’s the story of love pouring out of a heart so full. The story of seeing his bride for the first time on their wedding day, knowing that this is going to be the beginning of forever.
It’s the story of a surprise kiss, just because he can. A moment totally real, totally unscripted. The story of real life and real moments, of a promise to spend the rest of his life loving her.
It’s the story 10 minutes. The story of a rainy, very rainy, Saturday in August with a 10 minute break from the rain right before the reception entrance. The story of some of our favorite shots because of those precious 10 minutes.
It’s the story of a couple who couldn’t stop laughing, couldn’t stop the joy from bursting from their lips. The day was there, and it was real.
It’s the story of that groom who kept us laughing. All. Day. Long. The story of a sweet bride unknowingly falling prey to a very thorough photo bomb.
It’s the story of a couple who blew us away with their ability to conquer “the dip” almost before the words were even out of our mouths. The story of having fun together, of complete trust.
It’s the story of a couple beating all the odds together. Of fighting through ups and downs, of overcoming every challenge thrown their way. It’s the story of holding on to something special as tightly as you can when you know you’ve found it.
It’s the story of a perfectly timed kiss. The story of sweeping her into his arms because there is nowhere else she wants to be.
It’s the story of an epic car. A 1929 Model A that made one of our favorite props to date. The story of history, of times past, of celebrating something as timeless and priceless as love.
It’s the story of that groomsman. There’s always one. One who hams it up in front of the camera, who has us giggling the entire time. The story of that friend in your life that brings the sunshine on any dreary day.
It’s the story of a priceless memory, one that will be told and retold. It’s the story of a little guy, not sure about all this picture-taking stuff. A little one who is ready to run, and run fast.
It’s the story of a shot that we worked for, a full bridal party picture that included the ring bearer. It’s the story of laughing together, of spending the day with the most amazing people by your side.
It’s the story of that group of guys, the ones who can’t resist having a little fun. The story of laughing, of letting personalities shine.
It’s the story of men who are not afraid of being the good guys, not afraid to fight for what they believe in.
It’s also the story of groomsmen that are willing to be fun and goofy with us. :)
