Last weekend, we took a weekend trip down to Gulf Shores to spend some down time with Joel’s family. Would you believe that it’s my first time officially in Gulf Shores? I’ve been all down the coast of Florida, both the Atlantic and the Gulf, but had never visited the beaches of Alabama. I’m happy to finally be able to say that I’ve been there! :)
Since the drive down only took a few hours, we grabbed our travel-sized Canon M camera and stopped to play on the way! One of our favorite stops of the trip was Montgomery, AL. If you followed us on Instagram during our adventure out west earlier this year, you’ll know that we’re on a mission to visit as many state capitol buildings as we can find! After grabbing some coffee at Seeds Coffee in Birmingham (fabulous place, by the way!), we made our way down to Montgomery….
…..to see the capitol building!!
The Alabama Capitol Building was beautiful. We spend so much time exploring other parts of the world that we don’t always take the time to visit things right out our own back door!
We were totally fascinated by the First Confederate White House building that was just across the street. Our awesome tour guide shared much the local history of the Civil War with us, and I loved the way they truly preserved so much of the house. Even a lot of the furniture was original!
After a drive-through tour of the historic district of Mobile, we stopped for one last J&A Coffee Adventure at Refuge Coffee in Fairhope before hitting the beaches at Fort Morgan!
And played around with the window while we were there… :)
Until our next adventure!
*hugs*
