A Mocha For Your Tuesday // Marriage Advice // Huntsville Wedding Photographers
A few weeks ago, a friend described something she recently learned in her marriage. It struck me how much this applies to so many of us! Today I’m sharing the lesson I learned from her so you can use it to build a stronger marriage of your own!
Most of us feel a little overwhelmed. Family, work, church, marriage, friends, errands, housework…this list could literally go on and on. A lot of times, we feel like we’re pulling the biggest portion of the load. We notice all the times our spouse is enjoying some down time – and notice all the times that we aren’t.
My friend was feeling this way, and she told her husband that she felt like she was taking on the majority of the workload around the house.
Her husband said, okay. I understand. How about I stop doing the tasks I usually do? Then we can see what things look like.
I love my friend’s response.
“Alright. Game on!”
It took about a week for her to go back to her husband and thank him for everything he does to help around the house.
What she discovered was so true. We all focus on different things. She felt like she did all the work because she was only thinking about those things that she puts her focus on.
He had his own set of things he focused on. They might not be on her radar, but she sure noticed when they didn’t magically get done! :)
Next time you get frustrated about pulling a big chunk of the workload, I challenge you to sit down together and talk about it. You might be focusing on different aspects and both feel the same way.
Each of you can list out the tasks you do regularly and how often you do them. You might be surprised at the results!
Here’s to building stronger marriages!
*hugs*

{By the way, you also totally need to watch the “Mystery of the Basket” video clip if you haven’t already! It’s hilarious, and I think we can all relate at some point or another…}
