“Grow old along with me; the best is yet to be.”
~Robert Browning
I’ve always found this line of poetry to be so beautiful. There’s just something about it.
This comes to mind when I have the privilege to talk to an elderly couple. One who has truly grown old together – through the ups, the downs, and everything in between. Through the newly wedded bliss, the challenges and joys of parenthood, the ups and downs of marriage, the joys in discovering each other more deeply.
Their love is often a sweet, gentle, understanding kind of love. How he patiently helps her struggle into her coat. How she fixes him a peanut butter and banana sandwich every day at 11:00 for lunch, because that’s how he likes it. How they quietly hold hands as they walk slowly down the sidewalk.
Growing old isn’t easy. It often comes with many challenges that require more patience than every before.
But how beautiful to grow old with someone who loves you with a love that has encompassed a lifetime of memories.
What do you want your love to look like as you grow old together? What can you do today to start preparing for that?
*hugs*

This is a great post! I want our love to be what our kids and grandkids remember…I want them to love like us. Strong, wise, and dedicated.
That is so true! We have such an impact on future generations by what we do today!
