“We’re so busy watching out for what’s just ahead of us that we don’t take time to enjoy where we are.”
~Bill Watterson
Brides know what it’s like to be stretched to the limit. To have a to-do list that never seems to get much shorter. Invitations, registries, choosing vendors, decorations, color scheme, finding your fairytale dress, tracking down addresses, flowers…..
Most of us have been dreaming of, if not planning, our weddings since long before it became ring-official. What happens when the reality of availability, budget, and people pleasing gets in the way of the dreams?
Do you ever feel like it’s just an overwhelming mess? Do you sometimes feel like you’ve totally lost the joy in the midst of the stress?
Sometimes we’re so caught up in the planning that the joy of being engaged starts to fade away.
So, my friend, I want to share something with you.
It’s okay to just stop for a minute. Step away from it all for just a little while. Maybe even a week. Maybe even two weeks.
Take a deep breath. Spend some quality time with your fiancé that involves NO wedding talk. Remind yourselves why you’re planning this wedding in the first place. Rediscover the love that is inspiring this wedding.
The to-do list will still be there next week. It will all get done. It might not feel like it, but it will.
Enjoy where you are.
These sweet, precious moments of your engagement won’t be there forever. Cherish this special time in your life. Let yourself look back on these days and have a smile on your face.
Make these memories sweet.
“What day is it?”
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.
~A.A. Milne
