An intimate Friday summer wedding at Annabella at Cedar Glen? With a kind and thoughtful couple who adore each other to pieces? I accept! Sign me up, please! Shelley and John’s wedding checked off all of the above, plus so much more. What a beautiful, heartfelt celebration! I love an intimate wedding. All the wedding venues in Huntsville have a vibe of their own, and Annabella brings a cozy southern estate feel to the wedding day.
My favorite story from the day: we’re in the season of hiiiiiigh humidity and torrential afternoon pop up thunderstorms. There was a threat of rain all afternoon, and Joel and I watched a big storm roll over Annabella on the weather app radar as we were preparing for the First Looks and portraits before the ceremony. But even as the splotch of green and yellow rolled over our location, we looked up at the cloudy sky in amazement. Only the sprinkling of a few sparkles of water, nothing else. We continued on with the day, side-eyeing the sky, thankful for every minute we had outside. After a big group picture, the rain came in sheets in time for family portraits. As we popped up on the porch and finished those up, Shelley told us she had been praying that the rain would hold off until after the big group portrait. It could only have been an obvious answer to her prayer – radar-defying dry skies until the exact moment she prayed for. We serve a mighty God who shows His power in creative ways!
The story above will always be one of my favorite details from this day, but I have lots more! Chocolate chip wedding cake, for starters. It’s my favorite Batter Up wedding cake flavor. Culinary Perfections catering also showed up with this amazing honey smoked chicken. I don’t know what its official name is, but it was deliciously sweet and so tender that it made eating a chicken leg quarter at a wedding feel graceful.
It’s been a little while since we’ve photographed a wedding at Annabella, and swoon! The new addition to the bridal suite was amazing! Light and airy, soft and neutral, and super comfy. I just wanted to snuggle in with my laptop and a latte for the perfect cozy post-wedding work session.
And of course, Shelley and John were so fantastic. We met them as wedding guests at Emily and Blake’s Riverside wedding (peep them in the reception pictures!) and are thankful to get to keep them as a J&A Couple now! They’re super fun, adore each other, and serve others in so many ways.
A lot to love, but you’re waiting for the good stuff. Here it is!
Shelley & John – thank you so much for giving us the honor of capturing these memories for you! I’m so glad our paths crossed at Emily & Blake’s wedding. Fast forward – I’m so glad we got to celebrate alongside you on your own wedding day! You both do amazing things, and we wish you the very best as you continue to serve the Lord together in your new journey as husband and wife.
*hugs*
Amber
