We’re sharing 3 tips for staying energized for your wedding on the J&A Blog today! It’s something that seems like common sense, but you will be surprised the intentional planning you need to do in order to keep your energy through the day.
It’s easy to do little more than much on a bite or two the morning of the wedding. Everybody tells you to eat something, but you insist that you’re not hungry or that you already ate. Maybe you have butterflies, or maybe you’re ridiculously excited and food is the last thing on your mind.
But when the ceremony time comes or you’re dancing the night away, not having enough to eat earlier in the day will zap your energy quickly!
Here are 3 tips to make sure you’re well energized for your big day!
1. Bring yourself some snacks that you know you’ll enjoy.
It’s easy to bring granola bars or trail mix because it’s easy to grab and is known to give you energy. But if you aren’t a big fan of either one (like me!), you probably won’t be in the mood to eat. If you already have the jitters, mediocre food isn’t going to be very tempting.
Arrange for someone to bring you some ChickFilA. Do you love egg salad on a croissant? Assign someone to get them for you! Treat yourself to something you really enjoy. It will be easier to eat it, especially when it’s delivered just for you.
Have some of your favorite easy to munch on snacks, as well. Sometimes snacking all morning is easier than eating one big meal. Bonus points for snacks with great protein to keep you going – like peanut butter, nuts, oatmeal, greek yogurt, string cheese, and hummus.
2. Schedule yourself some extra down time specifically designated for eating.
And don’t forget to drink lots of water!! The day flies by so quickly, it’s easy to just accidentally skip eating because you’re so distracted by everything else. This is a good time to feed your wedding party and anyone else who has been at the venue helping all morning long.

3. Consider having a private meal together before entering the reception.
It might only be 15 minutes of sitting down together in a private room with your plates, but it will be so worth it. No matter how hard you try to eat, you’ll discover how difficult it is to really enjoy your food in between all the well wishers. Your guests will use this time to approach your table and speak a few words, give you a hug, or ask for a picture. It’s hard to socialize in between bites (especially when they’re snapping pictures!).
You spent a lot of time deciding on the menu and looking forward to tasting it on your wedding day. Make sure you give yourself time to enjoy it! Having that quiet, private time together will also refresh you for enjoying your guests to the fullest! Tip: this also gives your photographers some great down time to prep for the reception and grab some extra detail shots.
Here’s to a fabulous day of celebrating with family and friends! <3
