The year 2015. A year that brought us so much joy, friendship, laughter, memories, and yes,…lots and lots of wedding cake.
As I went through each wedding from this past year to put together this blog post, I was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by the blessing of these beautiful couples who trusted us to capture the most important days of their lives. Overwhelmed by how special and unique each wedding was – perfectly created to reflect their own style and personality. Overwhelmed that we have the opportunity to work with the most amazing couples we could have ever asked for.
And so, I bring you Our Favorite Stories of 2015, Part 1. Yes – there were so many favorite memories that I decided to break this up into several blog posts. Get excited. :)
As photographers, we get to tell a story. Our favorite memories are a piece of these stories.
It’s the story of these shoes. Erin had them custom designed with some gorgeous lace and pearl beading to coordinate perfectly with her wedding scheme.
It’s the story of a flower girl, dreaming of being a princess. With a frilly white dress, covered in blue flowers, and trying on the most romantic shoes ever – this is her day to shine. Her day to be a princess. To twirl, to dance, to be everything she dreamed she could be.
It’s the story of handcrafted origami flowers for Anne’s bouquet. These flowers are not just any paper flowers. They are Star Wars theme song origami flowers. Anne’s bouquet couldn’t have been more perfect for their wedding.
It’s the story of Anne’s shoes. They were hand-painted Toms, created to be perfectly Anne and perfectly hers.
It’s the story of Jake’s boutonnieres for him and his guys. Because flowers just wouldn’t have been them. It’s the story of every groomsman having exactly the right Lego.
It’s the story of tears coming to the mother of the bride’s eyes when she sees Elizabeth’s wedding dress hanging on the stairs. The story of the pitter patter of little feet running up and down those stairs, every day until the pitter patter turns into the graceful step of a dream-filled bride.
It’s the story that every ring carries. The story of two hearts promising each other forever. The story of two lives promising to walk through thick and thin, sickness and health, in happy times and sad times. To promise each other the world. Their world.
It’s the story of a beautiful stone church with a bright red door. A door that this bride will soon walk through. A door that opens into a place where love has grown in so many ways.
It’s the story of some awesome sequined wedding shoes. The shoes that walked toward her beloved groom, waiting for her at the end of the aisle. The shoes that danced the night away, celebrating the most wonderful day of their lives. The shoes that walked her toward the best part of her forever.
It’s the story of a groom writing a letter to his bride. A letter pouring out words that will be treasured in her heart every single day. The story of tears of joy shed, of sweet friends to walk this journey beside her.
It’s the story of the quiet, little, sideline moments. The ones that aren’t always seen, but are a sweet memory of those cheering for you every step of the way.
It’s the story of a little girl whose face absolutely glows when she looks up into the face of the bride getting ready to marry her daddy. The story of beautiful, sweet love of a little family just doing life together.
It’s the story of stumbling across a pack of Frozen tissues in the front pew of the church. The story of tears filled with love and joy in a mother’s eyes. The story of the emotion-filled face of her daddy as she promises to spend the rest of her life with the one she loves.
It’s the story of best friends. The one that remembers the first night you came home with a starry look in your eyes. The one who listened to all the details of your first date. The one who will stand beside you and whisper “You got this, girl” at exactly the right time.
It’s the story of a great grandmother’s mink stole, bringing with it the stories of many generations that took this journey before. The story of family, of heritage, and of unconditional love.
It’s the story of an unshakable faith, of friends who encourage you on the biggest day of your life. The story of a community of believers, walking the journey with you.
It’s the story of sharing that faith with the one you love. The story of praying together before the wedding, even without seeing each other. The story of three strands that are not quickly broken.
It’s the story of a mother, spending the last final minutes with her baby girl. The story of a long-awaited moment, when her daughter will walk down the aisle toward her forever. The story of a mother’s love and pride in the beautiful woman her daughter has become.
It’s the stories like these that create the most beautiful memories, the most beautiful pictures. Pictures filled with love, with joy, with emotion, and with irreplaceable memories. Pictures filled with a story.
