Hi!

I am so excited to share the first post of our new blog! My name is Amber. My middle name is Dawn, the combination of which I’ve always loved. Amber Dawn makes me think of golden mornings and inspiring sunrises. Thank you, Mom and Dad.

I really love cupcakes. Chocolate cupcakes are my favorite. Sprinkles make them even better! Being a wedding photographer is fabulous because every wedding has a CAKE!

Serving God and being active in His church are really important to both of us! It’s a big part of who we are and what we do. Fun fact: we’re the church musicians! Joel is our maestro pianist and I play the violin.

More things I love: yard sales, Jane Austen, and coffee shops.

One of my favorite hobbies in the world is meandering through thrift shops and yard sales. I buy a lot of books from these thrift shops. One of my someday dreams is to turn an entire room into a library- hopefully with a fireplace.

I’m slightly obsessed with Jane Austen. I read (repeatedly) all her books and have watched every version of every Jane Austen movie. Some are definitely better than others. My favorite book is Persuasion and my favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice. In case you were wondering.

Coffee shops just make me happy. I love the smell, the taste, the atmosphere. I think most of the best ideas for our photography business have come from our coffee dates. We have an espresso machine at home that is well loved. Joel is perfecting the skill of microfoam and latte art. I am into creating the perfect flavor combinations with our awesome collection of syrups.

We love kittens. Soft, fluffy kittens.

My favorite part of wedding photography is creating friendships with our couples. There are many parts of it that I adore- capturing that priceless moment of emotion when dad first sees his little girl, creating a stunning ring shot, sampling the wedding cake… But the opportunity to meet so many sweet, wonderful couples and spend the most important day of their lives with them is priceless.

I have an amazing marriage with Joel. I think that gives me so much more passion for weddings. This cute, young couple is on the verge of making a commitment to spend the rest of their lives together. They’re about to embark on one of the most rewarding, challenging, and unpredictable journeys imaginable. And I get to be there for that, to peek in on this unforgettable moment in time and create a story. Their story.

Our blog will feature some of our favorite weddings, but we also want it to be about you. We want to share some of the things we’ve learned to help make your engagement, wedding, and marriage as amazing as you’ve always dreamed! We’re so excited to have you on our journey! :)
