How To Deal With A Simmering Argument {Building Marriage}

A Mocha For Your Tuesday

May 2, 2017

I ran across a Reader’s Digest article one time with a list of happy marriage advice. One of the tips I found most interesting was how to reduce tension when a fight is simmering.

The author recommended going for a walk.

At first I was like, what? I’m arguing with my spouse and you’re telling me to head outside for a walk?

But changing a small space for the great outdoors and adding in a physical activity can do a lot to break the tension. It gives you something constructive to do. And bonus! Exercise releases endorphins. Endorphins are those happy chemicals, and happy chemicals sound like a pretty good thing to bring to an argument. :)

Talking things out is going to be a little easier. Tempers are going to have some space to cool. And even just the act of doing the same activity together brings an element of emotional connection.

Next time you and your spouse disagree, try resolving the tension with a little exercise together.

Here’s to loving each other better!

*hugs*
